What determines where I warp to after pressing X during an assist?

Hey all,

I'm trying to get the hang of using assist but I am still having a few troubles.
- (thread title) What determines where I warp to after pressing X during an assist?

The reason I ask this is because I want to do a combo with Cloud in edge of madness. You need to stand close to a wall with your opponent between you and the wall in a straight line (happens pretty often in edge of madness). Then use Fire(optional)>Sonic break ending in a bravery wall rush attack>Kuja aerial assist>Fire while Kuja sents your opponent upwards> hit X to warp> Slashing blow that ends in a downward bravery wall rush> fire will hit your opponent *with a slight delay*>while your opponent is staggering from Fire use Slashing blow>omnislash lvl 5.

Sounds good right? But the delay before fire hits is pretty annoying if you're doing pvp or fighting maximum CPU. On the other hand the maximum CPU often blocks and if you initiate Slashing blow during the block, 90% of the time your attack will still connect. If your opponent dodges, there is still a pretty good chance of hitting him/her depending on the direction. I have not seen any opponent dodge the Fire attack.

Long story short, if I could understand where you warp to after pressing X with Kuja's assist it might be possible to make the "Slashing blow that ends in a downward bravery wall rush" position the opponent in a place where there is no delay.

- Secondly I am not sure what determines whether or not your opponent will "jump up" after pressing X during an assist.
With "jump up" I mean the upward movement that an opponent occasionaly makes after the warp you did at the end of an assist. This is not induced by the pressing of a button, and cannot be avoided by the player that is being hit.

I figured out that if you use Kuja while playing Sephiroth and you mash the X button when Kuja gives you the chase sequence you will warp but your opponent will fly up making you miss certain attacks (although this is actually necessary for shadow flare>Heaven's light). If you do not mash the X button, your opponent will not "jump up" and you can connect with, for example, godspeed.

However with Cloud (my 2nd main) this doesn't seem to be the case, even when I mash X with Kuja's assist the opponent stays on the same height after the warp. On the other hand sometimes when I don't mash the X button, the opponent still "jumps up" making me miss Slashing blow, this is pretty rare though.

Any help on either of these problems would be much appreciated. :)
